Two adjacent 575kW solar farms in Canada maximize energy production
with reliable Enphase microinverters
PETALUMA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Enphase
Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENPH), and Virelec,
a leading provider of complete solar electric solutions, today reported
Injasuti Development's solar PV farms have completed their first year of
operation, reaching nearly 2GWh of clean energy production and
offsetting 1,365 tons of CO2. The two adjacent 575kW solar installations
utilize the Enphase System, engineered to maximize system energy
production and uptime by eliminating an inverter-level single point of
failure.
Paul Marot, president of Injasuti Developments and of Virelec, initiated
the private project in December 2010 to coincide with on-site
agricultural activities as well as to enhance farming revenues. The
Beaver Creek and Flowerburn solar farms have exceeded the predicted
output and uptime of the systems, according to Virelec.
"The over 1.1MW total solar farm project once again proves the ability
of Enphase microinverters to address the requirements of large
commercial projects. The biggest change in the last year for our company
is our ability to compete and win business in the 100kW to 1MW range,"
said Paul Nahi, CEO of Enphase Energy.
In addition to requiring a high level of system uptime, the need for
web-based, module-level monitoring and diagnostics was critical in the
decision to choose the Enphase System. Virelec designers also preferred
Enphase because their microinverters met the Feed-in-Tariff program's
Ontario Domestic Content requirements.
"We carefully considered all the inverter options to connect with
dual-axis trackers and chose Enphase because we wanted the maximum
energy output," said Phil Insull, development manager of Virelec. "With
low voltage on the modules and plug-and-play electronics, maintenance is
much simpler. Enphase technology makes us confident that even if a few
units are lost, the system will still perform at a high level."
The two 575kW dual-axis tracker projects are connected to the utility at
a medium voltage of 27.6 kV, and the energy produced is fed back into
the grid through the utility.
