Alfred State College senior Joe Kurch is an Electrical Maintenance and
Construction undergraduate recently placed in charge of designing,
managing and installing a 15kW array with Enphase microinverters in
Washington, D.C., by his course instructor.
"At Enphase, we are making solar more accessible through our
easy-to-install, low-voltage technology. With this scholarship, we
continue to help people make an easy transition into solar by offering a
free NABCEP entry-level certification opportunity," said Bill Rossi, CMO
of Enphase Energy. "Enphase recognizes the importance of NABCEP
certification, and we are pleased to provide Joe Kurch with a head
start, and personal differentiator, as he seeks employment in the
growing solar industry."
According to SEIA and The Solar Foundation's Solar Job Census 2012,
there are more than 119,000
solar workers in the U.S., a 13.2 percent increase over employment
totals in 2011. The growing interest in green jobs is attributed to
increased awareness of renewables as well as boosting the nation's
economy.
"My experience with the Enphase System at the solar array in Washington,
D.C., is the main reason I want to become NABCEP certified and install
solar systems. I want to help people take a greener initiative with
their energy," said Kurch. "At the end of my college career, I want to
wake up every day feeling good about what I do."
