Maui non-profit receives $25,000 solar energy system after winning
Enphase Facebook video contest
PETALUMA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Enphase
Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: ENPH), a national leader in solar energy
technology, today announced the La‘a Kea Foundation on Maui will receive
a $25,000 solar energy system as the winner of the company's Mahalo
Hawaii Facebook contest.
La‘a Kea is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meaningful
work opportunities and residential options for adults with autism and
intellectual disabilities on its 12-acre organic farm in Upper Paia on
the slopes of Haleakala. The Mahalo Hawaii video contest celebrates
nearing Enphase's 25,000th system installation in Hawaii by awarding a
$25,000 solar energy system to a non-profit with the most votes for
their video.
Exclusively for Hawaii, entries highlighted 16 different nonprofit
organizations hoping to add the benefits of solar to their business.
With more than 38,000 votes cast, the Enphase Facebook giveaway
attracted intense competition and highlighted the demand for solar in
the nation's highest priced energy state.
"We are so very pleased to be able to help La‘a Kea in its mission to
improve the lives of those participating in this wonderful program. This
system allows La‘a Kea to use a renewable energy source and reduce their
energy costs," said Bill Rossi, CMO for Enphase. "Having almost reached
25,000 installations across Hawaii is a great testament to Hawaii's
commitment to solar energy and shows confidence in Enphase's technology.
The Mahalo giveaway is our way of saying thank you and doing something
special for the community."
"We want to thank Enphase for this generous donation and the thousands
of friends and neighbors who voted for us. It was an incredible
community effort," said Donna Ting, president of the Board of Directors
of the La‘a Kea Foundation. "Going solar is important. It helps us be a
more responsible steward of our resources and that is a good example for
our residents and the community. The savings from the solar system will
allow us to continue to focus on our mission of serving Maui residents
with developmental disabilities and helping them thrive in our
community."
